Sabine's Sunbird
I’m going to be in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in January next year for a cruise and visit to Kazaringa with family. When it’s over, I am thinking about doing a solo diversion for four full days in Eagle’s Nest. I’ve asked the company booking the main tour to see about getting a car and driver and arranging accomodation up there. I’ve specially asked for 2 nights in Bompu camp and Lama camp. I haven’t booked anything yet but I have three questions.
1) is this okay given the time of year? I gather Lama can be hard in midwinter, would it be advisable to stay Bompu and somewhere else?
2) are these the two best locations for a quick visit to eagle’s nest? I have no specific targets. I just want to get a nice sample of Himalayan birds given I’ll be nearby anyway.
3) does anyone have recommendations for local guides who I can reach out before I go to help me find the birds? I want to support the local communities and good local knowledge, and am not asking my tour company to find someone for this reason.
