:clap::clap::clap:

Two of my favorite reads though one takes a bit longer to read than the other.(Not that I don't have a pile of completely unread 'Economists' as well). I've been very disappointed whenever I've turned on a TV version of The Onion. Very dull and predictable. Not like some of their online gems. I'd like to mention one of my favorites but won't because I don't want to bring politics into a place that is so pleasant because there is no politics.

Exactly, even with that unmistakable pattern, smew can also be camouflaged among the ripples. Like it a lot!

on more shot at Smew painting this winter to come, hopefully

but meantimes here's a shrike trying to make murder in an old oak hedge: back to playing with marker pen/biro and tipp-ex in my lunchbreak, but with a few quick dabs of colour when I got home

fantastic, sharp drama and sharp eyes to pick out the action in all the confusion.

And enlivened I think by the deadline of lunch break. I sometimes think such deadlines can bring out the best in artists. You only have a limited amount of time so you stay focused. I really like the idea of taking such a difficult subject as this and whipping it out at lunchtime!! Very successful and the basis of something more developed in time?

I really like how you handled the Smew painting! The hedgerow pursuit scene is excellent - life and death drama unnoticed by most, but nicely captured in your piece.

Ha!!! - Twice I'd typed in correspondence regarding the wonderful work recently displayed hereabouts and the once to congratulate this thread and its initiator on the 100K views which seemed to have gone by unannounced. I'll rectify the former by saying 'Effing brill, mate - love the smew especally!'
and the latter with this message from our sponsor:
B :)B :)100,000 views - congratsB :)
one of the most inspiring and informative threads on the net
keep it up!!!!:t:
The reason why I never posted was because my NEW lappy wasn't configured correctly to make posts on BF(hence the prolonged silence from YT) - all as it should be, now.

well hello all - how nice to hear from you all (and commiserations to those enduring computer trouble)

currently doing a digi makeover as little side-project- logo for SOG the Suffolk Ornithologists Group I first painted waaaay in the late 1970s, now only surviving in the first attached version that looks to have been copied recopied and drawn over in someone else's hand

certainly no digi back then and reference material was a precious thing, to be hoarded like a precious metal

congratulations on the 100,000 views! I have to admit that a good deal of them are from me! An ideal time to remind you what an inspiration your work is to me, from bristly brushes to graphics tablets (philistine!) and sculpture with a helping hand (or sometimes not so helpful) from Mr Black and Decker - keep up the good work!

(what's the poor unfortunate prey item? young moorhen?)
