2 side incidences I met (not photographic equipment). 1/. 5 years ago, a flyer from one of the 2 big office supply chain stores advertised that for a model of Waterman fountain pen (I collect pens) "buy one get one free". So I bought one and asked about the process of get one free, only to find out that this applies only to Ball pen. I showed them the flyer. Ther manager came out and after reading the flyer, she said, "OK, this is a mail-in for the second pen. Just send the invoice together with this flyer to the manufacturer in US and they will send you the pen, and we will absorb the cost!" (It cost over 40CND, though not as much as a lens!) I received the pen a few weeks later. 2/. Came from the Other big office suppy store 3 years ago. An open box Monte Blanc mechanical pencil (original price 100CND+) was listed at $30. I asked the Staff to take it out of the show case, and took it to the cashier. He gave me the price tag too. On scanning, however, the price is $50. So I showed the cashier the price tag. She called the supervisor. I told them that I am not buying it in that case, and can return it to them. That's the supervisor's reply: "No, we made the mistake, you will have it for $30". So here is the pen I am still using , especially for doing Sudoku or puzzles.
