At least you saw the Penduline Tit. I saw the long staying Lancashire Glossy Ibis at Warton Marsh and Marshside over a couple of years.

Woodlarks DO exist...
As my British list is still sub 200 I've got many absentees but as i've only been enthusiastically birding for a year and a bit, i'm cool about that as each trip i embark upon could produce a lifer. I am, however, somewhat frustrated that i've not seen a flycatcher in the UK. Any ideas for a Surrey resident? Tried at Pulborough RSPB enough times but only chiffchaffs pretending to be!

And, despite spending many a winter hour around the Raptor View Point on Sheppey, Merlin have so far eluded me...

Oh yeh, and Hawfinch :( Reported on a daily basis "behind the station" on Bookham common, Surrey (around the area in which I work) throughout the winter....

What, is only one person a day permitted by mother nature to view them?? Why not me, I ask...

Time for bed Kev...

Mine is undoubtedly Savi's Warbler. What hurts the most is the fact that I've heard two (in Britain I mean, seen them abroad several times).

Well, I can't say I'm embarassed, but there are two birds on the ABA list that I feel should have seen by now: rose-throated becard and grey partridge. I've seen them both outside the ABA area (Honduras and Romania, respectively), but despite going to places in the US where they were "supposed to be", I've missed them.

Other than that, I've never seen any owls in Europe and only one in Asia.

A lot of the birds listed in this thread i will never see in my neck of the woods. You guys should feel lucky that you even have the chance to see some of those birds as where i live i will never have the chance because they just aren't native to here.

i guess the same would be true some of the birds local to here that someone in the UK won't ever see unless they come over for holiday.

i did spend a little over 2 years traveling australia. and got to see birds i thought i would never get the chance to lay eyes on

Thanks for yet more submissions. I managed to dip on the Little Bittern whilst I was away, which is not embaressing, more frustrating. However, I could easily say that I have definitely mopped up on a few of my most embaressing birds now I have been to Ham Wall RSPB. So I will get rid of the birds I saw there that were on my list before. Keep the entries coming in folks.:t:
