I must say that I am/was a bit reluctant to age it, because the head pattern is not very clear on the picture. But even a worn adult should show a more distinct/contrasting head pattern: http://anillamiento.net/guia/details.php?image_id=8697 Also the breast looks streaked on the OP bird. But yes, a date would be welcome! Many more pictures of Rock bunting in the hand on the same site: http://anillamiento.net/guia/categories.php?cat_id=226 So what is it then Ken? A Cirl bunting? With rufous uppertail coverts, large pale tips to the greater coverts and thin rufous edging to the tertials? A Cirl that shows a streaked breast but mostly unmarked flanks? A Cirl bunting that lacks any yellow tones to the plumage (except maybe a tiny bit on the head, but in fact on the OP image there is no yellow at all; the yellow tones have appeared only in subsequent editing) ? Not only a Cirl showing this combination does not exist but you'll hardly come across a Cirl showing any of the aforementionned fieldmarks. (Hope I am not sounding too rude to those of you who proposed Cirl bunting in the first instance)
