We was at the car park around 1pm had 1 shorty,
Then a ringtail.
Then went to the white gate , had 3 shorties over the car park and a peregrine in the field
4 Barn owls were seen, pretty sure they were all individual birds,at least 3 were as we saw them in the air at the same time.
No sign of any marsh harriers though

If anyone fancies it,me and Bitter bugger are doing South Essex in the morning, meeting at 9am at Wat Tyler CP

Not a lot to draw you to Mucking Nature Park aside from coffee and cake.

Selected totals this afternoon. Half a dozen ships up and a couple down brought 4 kittwakes among more usual gull species. No white wingers.
A possible movement of 50+ corvids (by colour and size possibly 9 jackdaws, 40+rooks/crow) distantly south over the Thames east of Coryton. Corn Bunting in the car park on leaving.

Most of the visible waders looked like they were sheltering on the Kent side.

Thanks to your help here, I spent an hour watching a single Short-eared Owl at Wallasea this afternoon, hunting over the reptile area. I think there were a couple of owls right over the back too, but too far for my bins. It was great, even have a photo (not good enough to show here though!).
Didn't see any harriers, just a couple of stonechats and kestrels.
Got to watch that fabulous storm come in too - great to watch over open countryside.

Is that Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon Steve???
The weathers not looking brilliant today but I think it clears up somewhat so I may pop over, pretty much the same tomorrow

Good to see you this evening Rob. Excellent last few hours of light watching 3 SEO's, 3 kestrel and 3 Barn Owls. Rob saw the hen harrier earlier and I saw a merlin on arrival. Wallasea Island produced another fantastic raptor fest.

Whilst driving to work between Witham and Braintree I have had several teasing glimpses of a large raptor, not enough to positively ID it, especially driving and without bins.
Finally it flew nicely over and in front of me this morning and, as I had suspected, Goshawk!
It's a nicely wooded area so there may be more than one, who knows!!!

Pfffffffffffffff! Goshawk?! A Crow I reckon :p

I could be free Saturday. Where were you thinking of going? (I realise we've had the same conversation up to this point on twitter as well)

Well spotted

You will probably be aware, but just in case, it's probably best to keep details out of the public domain.

There has to be enough remaining woodland in Essex for others too though, so keep looking up!

this was on one of my feeders this morning - 99% sure it's a female chaffinch but puzzled by the breast marking - white & grey/brown - any thought's please?

finally getting regular goldfinches on my nyger feeders after a bit of a wait this winter. The birds suddenly seem to be keen on my offered food rather than searching for natural stuff. regular visits from LT tits (up to 8) as well over the last week or so.
