Ethiopia -- help with a reed/marsh warbler (1 Viewer)

Greetings,

I think these photos (taken yesterday in Bishoftu, Ethiopia around Lake Cheleleka) show a Eurasian/Common Reed Warbler (Accrocephalus scirpaceus), but looking through my guide and photos online, I realize that I would probably not be able to differentiate it from a Marsh Warbler or even Savi's (without seeing the undertail coverts clearly). Can someone with more experience with these similar species take a look and tell me what they think?

Hi Justin, you are correct in considering an acro, but note the streaked back - this excludes both Marsh and Reed (and also Savi's although that is in another genus). The streaking to the crown and mantle suggest Sedge warbler, which is a common migrant in the area.

I agree, Sedge Warbler.

Oh, I see it now. I've seen lots of Sedges and this individual seemed district to me. Thanks!
