[QUOTE="Chosun Juan, post: 3275126, member: 92780"] Hi Max, probably one of the scariest is surprising and near being attacked by a great big 6ft tall buck kangaroo around dusk while birding (hot on the trail of a Little Falcon - whose penchant for careening through the treetops at breakneck speed in what I regard as darkness is mind altering! :) While that was scary (especially as a little old lady had recently been bashed up and put in hospital by one just 3/4 of that size!:eek!:) beyond a substantial *ss whooping I never feared for my life ............. However ......... my first up close and personal with a Wedge-tailed Eagle had me well and truly fearing for my future on this planet! I had just trekked up Bluff Mountain, and was relaxing on top, having a drink of water and eating a pack of Twisties (as you do! :) ...... well then! Not more than 20ft from me a huge dark female Wedgie just rises up right in front of me ....... levitating up the front of the cliff without so much as a twitch, like on some sort of invisible elevator - 2.5m wings outspread! Holy fc*k I thinks to meself as I try to clean the orange mess off my hands and reach for the camera ...... What starts out as excitement and exhilaration soon turns to abject fear as the Wedgie continues up and over my reclined personage still not twitching a single feather ..... and then it dawns on me ..... ah, hang on a minute -- these things throw goats off cliffs, don't they ...... It isn't is it? Nah, surely not, surely it's not thinking that?! ..... Bl**dy Nora - it's still coming ..... H - O - L - Y F - M - D !! Better stretch out all arms and legs to look like I'm too big to carry off ....... heart pounding ...... fingers crossed ...... genuinely petrified !!! :eek!: Phew ...... she cruises straight over the top of me (no photo! too scared!) .... Holy sweet jayzus FMD these things are effin HUGE! ......... :eek!: One can only imagine what a close up encounter with a big female Harpy or Philippine Eagle ....... and me shudders to think what it would have been like to live in the time and space of the mind blowing Haasts Eagle would have been like ...... 3m wingspan and 15kg ....... Ye Gods ..... Arrrrrrrrrgh and Egad! Gadzooks!!!
