But whilst walking up the hills near Waddesdon manor a pair of (presumably nesting) red kites came out of the wood next to the path I was on and circled slowly inspecting me from only 3 or 4 meters above me, obviously nothing happened... but for 30 seconds or so I became very aware of the talons hanging down underneath them... certainly did get the heart racing... another surprising incident was whilst backpacking round India, we were leaving a hotel entrance in Siliguri, up beyond Darjeeling, and a group of around 7 starling sized birds flew out of bush next to the path and straight into my girlfriends hair and were pulling the hair and bouncing off her head for a good few seconds before her mad arm waving made them fly off. sadly this was before my interest in birding took off so I don't know what they were.</blockquote>
