I used a trick I've tried in the past, involving oven cleaner diluted with some water. The first picture shows them after they have been bathing in oven cleaner for a few minutes, and then polished clean with steel wool. The second picture shows them after getting a quick re-exposure to the oven cleaner, just to get the matte oxidized finish. This is what I'm aiming for.(The little red dot left of "GERMANY" will of course have to be re painted.)How I will get the same effect on the body I'm not sure about yet.
