The eye-relief is fantastic, I can even wear my "normal" (i.e. non-birding) specs and get full FOV very comfortably. The strange rubber ring that fits over the ep serves as a cushion to stop the glasses rubbing off the lens. It really is a major improvement for eyeglass-wearers over the MC eyepiece; the wide diameter lens is like those on Swaro eyepieces.
