Falcon sp. Mallorca (1 Viewer)

Mike Montier

Well-known member
I saw this falcon at Cap de Ses Salines, Mallorca, yesterday and there are different opinions.
Some say Hobby whilst others believe it is a Red-footed falcon.
I accept the photo is poor and I have lightened it a bit.
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks more like an adult male Eleonora’s to me just on the shape - but it’s hard to make out any plumage features, all three species can look uniformly dark from a distance.
