Feather ID help (1 Viewer)

Hello, I found this smallish (3.5 inch) feather on a country walk in Oxfordshire this week. I don't recognise it and wonder if anyone can help please? It's got a dark tip, with a chestnut area below, merging to grey. We get lots of red kites round here but not sure it's one of those. S. (This is my first post, so I hope I've put it in the right place. Thanks for your help.)

Thanks Peter, I hadn't thought of that! No hens nearby but definitely foxes, so I guess it might have been transported there. (Just a single feather, no other evidence of anything.)
