I appreciate what you say and your cander. And I appreciate it must be difficult when you are getting so many conflicting views! I dont claim to be an expert. Crikey, I've made more than my own fair of mistakes and continue to do so, and importantly, learn from them. I dropped a real clanger in front of a crowd on the island this spring, but thankfully I was able to climb back out of my self dug hole with slightly less egg on my face than I could have. I'm not a great fan of PMs on items such as this. I'm someone who is happy to debate a point and if I'm wrong I'll learn form it. Why didnt the person who thought it was a Menetries post it publically? But, who cares. But there is another way than simply keep posting photo after photo and shouting for help. You could PM some of us (those who have helped with ID before) privately from the start and resolve issues such as this behind the scenes. I get plenty of other folk doing the same (either PM or email) since I'm genuinely interested in both helping those visiting Lesvos and making sure that things are recorded accurately. You cant beleive the number of claims I and others follow up each spring, many of which turn out to be something obvious rather than the claimed mega! A Finsch's Wheatear was claimed by someone at my hotel, entry in the log stating woth photos. It took me a week to get to see that person and he was only sleeping down the landing from me! And it was the expected black and white melanoleuca Black-eared. Anyway, I'm rambling. I think we see each others view and I dont think we need to prolong this further. I hope I havent caused offence as none was intended. Its been one of them days!
