Hello,
I am currently planing a trip to Nepal for next year (or maybe 2024, not sure yet if it will work out for next year). Is there a recommended field guide for Mammals covering Nepal? I found Mammals of South Asia from Lynx. It‘s not really a field guide but probably a good starting point to get an idea of what I would like to see besides the obvious targets like Red Panda (and hopefully a better view than the 5 seconds I saw on the last time I was in Nepal on trekking trip). Besides that I only found field guides for India which probably cover a lot of the Nepalese mammals. Any ideas what book would be best?
For birds I got a cheap second hand copy (which looks like it has never been opened) of Birds of the Indian Supcontinent (Helm Field Guides). As far as I know this has all Birds I can expect in Nepal. Is this correct?
And finally is there a field guide or a good website for reptiles? Last time I was in Nepal I took a couple of photos of lizards which turned out to be quite hard to identify because of lack of information on what can be expected.
Thanks
David
