Fieldfares bathing in seawater (1 Viewer)

In October I came across a large number of Fieldfare on an island in Oslofjord. Nothing unusual about that but many of them were down at the waters edge bathing - but this was seawater not freshwater. Anyone else seen other passerines bathing in seawater?

No, but if ice melt from the coastal fjords are desalinating North Sea inlets, we are in more trouble that I thought! 😏

Don't think I've ever seen a passerine bathe in seawater, except perhaps Rock Pipit?

No glaciers in any of the rivers running into Oslo Fjord - it'll be standard seawater saltiness there

That’s not what I actually said 😠 - I was referring (and doing so in a wry way, tongue in cheek way btw ) to the North Sea Coastal fjords on the West coast - the Oslofjord is filled with water from the North Sea (it’s all connected or perhaps you didn’t realise that ) πŸ‘
