So I had been hesitating for some time but finally purchased an ATX 85 for my Christmas present :giggle: It’s one of those bucket list items that I have wanted for a while and as I am not getting any younger and my eyesight isn’t getting better I convinced myself now was the time.

Now the weather we have been having over the Christmas period has been miserable and wet. We have had several storms hit the UK over the period and the rest of the time it’s been constant cloud. So I have tried my best to get out and about. From what I can tell the optics are excellent and tac sharp.

I am currently staying at my parents in Devon so I have already been able to watch Egrits and a variety of coastal birds :)

I thought I would also purchase a phoneskope adapter for the scope to see what I couple capture. I am still learning a lot about that process, which lens to use, which app to use, which settings to use. However I also (having done a lot of photography in my life) appreciate that the camera phone is quite limited.

I was wondering if those with experience in digiscoping could recommend a good camera setup combo for use with the scope. Something preferably that works well with the swaro adapters (APO ?). I have heard positive things about the Sony a6700. Also if people have learned over the years great apps and settings which might also help me get started. I enjoy the learning process but any tips are welcome.

I will say I did buy the scope for viewing and not a photo device but it would be good to take some pictures as good as I can see through it 👍

Added a couple of pictures that I managed to salvage from my crazy experimentation of apps and settings, you can see how grey it’s been in the background 😁

Awesome digiscoping and any of those new mirrorless cameras in the market are good enough with the TLS APO 43 (for full frame), 30 (for crop camera) and 23 (for mirrorless crop camera)

The a6700 should be excellent with the X85. I use a Swaro adapter with a a6000 - it maintains the autofocus - see Swaro X digiscopy with a6000
