______________-- In spite of this shortcoming, photos by Neil and Bob never fail to amaze me with their sharpness, so they're doing something right! Bob, I agree with you that the DCA-1 coupling to the scope doesn't feel secure enough. I have never liked setscrews to hold things in place, and this arrangement, while fairly common, doesn't impress me much. I also discovered that the sliding outer ring of the DCA-1 can only slide over the inner ring (which latter is screwed to the scope) a certain distance. Slide it too far in and the zoom lens probably touches the eyepiece and an error message appears on the camera LCD. Someone (Neil?) says he used tape to adjust this distance set-off. I'm going to try with a nice wide rubber band of about 1/8" width. I shall post a photo of my setup tomorrow. In the final analysis, the A590IS + spotting scope can and does produce very fine photos. I spent over US$1100 for a 400mm/5.6 L lens for my DSLR and could only salivate when I saw photographers with Sigmonsters and huge Canon 500mm L lenses plus 2x extenders in Yellowstone National Park photographing wildlife that was way out of reach of my 400mm. lens. But now, with this digiscoping setup, at a fraction of the cost of a 500mm L lens I will be zooming past them with up to 5000mm focal length telephoto. And that's no typo there. Dennis
