First three birds you expect to see in 2016 (1 Viewer)

First I expect to hear in half-light before dawn on 1st: Robin, Blackbird, Wren.

First I'm likely to actually see: Blackbird, Woodpigeon, Magpie.

If I'm lucky, Tawny Owl could get in as #1 heard.

Feral Pigeon, Magpie and Carrion Crow. Though Herring Gull and Woodpigeon in with a good chance. What I'd really like as a massive flat/year tick would be House Sparrow or Greenfinch. They used to be outside my south London window here daily, but neither have been seen for the last 15 years. Buzzard, Red Kite, Grey Wag yes, but no House Sparrow, no Greenfinch...

Last few years, House Sparrow – and Starling – have come in between ##30-40 on my yearlist. A sad sign of the times :-C

Just after midnight I expect to hear Song Thrush, Robin, & either Blackbird or Wren.
I'm surprised its not Bar-Headed goose given how high you are!

( The bar-headed goose is one of the world's highest-flying birds,[4] having been heard flying across Mount Makalu – the fifth highest mountain on earth at 8,481 m (27,825 ft) – and apparently seen over Mount Everest – 8,848 m (29,029 ft) – although this is a second-hand report with no verification)

Most likely:

Tufted Titmouse
House Finch
Northern Cardinal

But other possibilities include Wild Turkey, Mourning Dove, Downy Woodpecker, Black-capped Chickadee, and House Sparrow.

It is not "New Year's Day" here yet either! ;)

* This morning the list was like this:
(See how this "pans out" for Jan 1)

1. American Goldfinch
2. Dark-eyed Junco
3. House Finch

"runners-up"
4. Downy Woodpecker
5. Red-bellied Woodpecker
6. House Sparrow
7. Northern Cardinal

Today it was: Northern Cardinal, Dark-eyed Junco & Carolina Wren
*Come on Jan 1 *

(The prediction I gave was: House Finch, House Sparrow & Northern Cardinal) (post #5 in this thread)
