Flycatcher - Lehigh County, Pennsylvania USA (2 Viewers)

I had this little guy in the pouring rain this morning.

It was perched on a wire about a foot off the ground on the shore of a lake. Willow Flycatchers nest in the brush on a different shore of the lake, but this area is more wooded. Eastern Wood-pewees nest in the woods nearby, but I've never seen them this close to the lake shore or so close to ground level. I also had an Acadian Flycatcher calling nearby a few days ago.

Pic is slightly brightened, but still doesn't show a lot of detail. I'm thinking it's a pewee, but just want to eliminate the empids.

Tnx,

JH

It looks like a pewee to me. I bet it was down low because of the heavy rain and the cold temperatures (assuming your weather is like Maryland's and New Jersey's today).

Oh yeah. 45 deg F this morning and absolutely pelting down.

There were a ton of swallows feeding over the lake, too, so I suspect there was food there. That may have drawn him in.
