For Black-browed Babbler! Zoom H5 vs H6 vs Tascam DR-40x; and SGH-6 vs SSH-6 vs Rode NTG2? (1 Viewer)

Ok, I admit I used the recently rediscovered black-browed babbler as bait to get a quicker response--but that's exactly what I am going to do. I am going to have fieldwork soon in the area where it was rediscovered, and I need your suggestion of a good and affordable handheld recorder+shotgun mic to rent in case I spotted the mythical babbler.

Here are the only handheld recorder option available to rent in my country with my current budget:
-Zoom H5
-Zoom H6
-Tascam DR-40x

And for the shotgun mic:
-Zoom SGH-6
-Zoom SSH-6
-Rode NTG2

I wonder what will work best in my fieldwork environment, which mostly will be done in the thick Bornean forest where bird encounter can be as close as a few meters away, but with many background noise from other birds/animal. Also considering the nature of the babbler, I think it will better to have fast power-up duration and good pre record buffer.

Thanks!

I dont have experience with the above but as long the recorder uses XLR input for the shotgun mic, you are good to go. My setup is with Tascam + Sennheiser. Get the mic furry cover if you can get from Shopee or Aliexpress.

Check this link Recording Equipment Recommendations? :: topic 31568 :: xeno-canto , the guy are using the Zoom recorder + mic for birds
