I hope these photos might show enough features of a Cassin's Kingbird. The bird was working a grassy area near the historical fort area and with traffic I was not able to hear any vocalization, however the throat and chest seem quite dark. In some photos the tail may show a white edge while in at least one it seems dark. Thank youCassin's_Flycatcher_?.jpgCassin's_Flycatcher_2?.jpgCassin's_Flycatcher_3?.jpgCassin's_Flycatcher_4?.jpg

Thank you so much. I had been told that both Cassin's and Western are in that area but Cassin's is the lifer for us. Would you tell me what features confirm that identification for you? I know to look for the white edges on the tail for Western but this bird seemed to have those edges as well.
it can be somewhat variable but, here, the white chin contrasting with dark grey face and grey lowe throat is strong enough to eliminate Western (as well as Couch's and Tropical).
