I've just had my breakfast.:egghead: Otherwise I think my M7 10x30 is my upgrade (so it's not exit pupil being a problem) and it was here all along but it was a useful exercise to spend some time using my 8x25 again for a while and finding that I could get some good enjoyment from it and recognise that it is actually a very good little binocular but it's just simply not the tool for a proper day out for wildlife or birding. I think below 30mm objective is the issue. Below that is travel tourist hiking museums territory. I'm sure any optical engineer knows the reason but I suspect it's simply down to the fact that 25mm objectives have a limit on light they can collect and so for any reasonable performance I think the magnification would have to be low and I think some manufacturer is missing a trick by not offering something like a 6.5x26 double hinge foldable but here we are, no manufacturer will touch it. Just must not sell enough. If you don't have or normally use a larger binocular then I think it is possible to become more accustomed to the smaller binocular and perhaps be quite satisfied. The problem really is when you switch from a large to a small. My local store actually sells a 10x24 porro by Kodak and I was thinking of taking a look at it but I expect it to be woeful as it's really cheap. On the other hand it may actually work in some way that I like? and fit my current non-budget. I'm curious to actually see such a small porro.
