what a great painting of this animal, it has a beautiful mood, communicating the gentleness of this giant.
I esp like how you have integrated the colors of bg and the subject, making the flow between the two just right, and how you have paid attention to the subtle values to create a beautiful English light.

Colleen, I agree with you completely on this. Lovely piece Tim. What a character , The Bull I mean :-O

I've been looking at Mr. Shag on and off for days now and I just noticed that what really hits me is the sense of tremendous weight. There's really the sense of a huge body come to rest.

And the blue of the upper left is a nice surprise amidst the 'beautiful English light.'

I also very much like the newest watercolors.

Tim, I've been stunned into silence I think! All this latest watercolour work for your ex is top, top quality. I hope it all goes well, in fact, how can it not?

Shaggy is a hefty hunk 'o beef ain't he! As others have said the quality of light is spot on, it's a wonderful painting.

Put me down for one of those catalogues, they're going to be too good to miss!

What a difference a deadline makes;)

Your output over the past two weeks has left even the Derry in your wake...

What a spread, hard to know where to start, what a wonderful set of watercolours, Hoodie Fledglings, Eiders, Perigrines and Puffin are all superbly executed, observatioally rich pieces that pull you in. It is patantly obvious to anyone viewing these are scenes you witnessed and recorded in your fieldwork. What I love the most is the way the watercolours retain what you saw, thes are so true to your original sketches and they work incredibly well as a result. Outstanding work, all of it and put me down for a programme also.

...and what a wonderful portrait of a gentle leviathon, gives a very warm, peaceful glow that. Deftly painted and stopped at just the right moment...

If Mr Dalton was brave enough to post dodgy pics - who am I to shirk? Here's a very smug-looking dauber (no reason to be so, I can assure you!) after hanging the aforementioned exhibition in readiness for the Private View tomorrow evening.
Don't forget - you is all invited!

Wish I could be there, believe me....

Nice to get a sense of scale on these pieces behind you.

Best of luck with the show, I reckon its a surefire hit on the strength of the material..

Beautiful display, ( the paintings not you:)) When I managed an art gallery, I found putting little stories by the pics made people spend more time looking for some reason, I'll bet that happens here, I know it's going to go very well! can't wait for my book!

Wish I could be there for the preview Tim but I think the dodgy photo will have to do! Best of luck with the show. It looks great and I can't wait for the catalog.

Shall be dropping in for a view on the way home from work this evening, shall post an unbiased review tomorrow.

(Don't know how unbiased it will be as I have half a dozen of Tims superb paintings already!! - not to mention the drawings...)

Cheers,

Paul

just a question, I notice the flag on yours and Pauls name is different than the one for Britian, is Orkney a foreign country? I vaguely thought it was part of Scotland, and Scotland was part of the British nation...would you enlighten me with a bit of histroy please, or is Orkney like a state, US style, California has a flag with a brown bear on it.

Hi Colleen - Paul and I fly the 'Saltaire' - which is the white cross of St Andrew - the national flag of Scotland. The 'Union Jack' which is the flag of Britain comprises the English flag (St George), the Welsh Flag St David) and the Scottish flag.
Orkney indeed does have its own flag - the folk here do see themselves as distinctly different from Scottish folk - indeed have been under Danish rule for most of their modern history.
PS - I fly the Saltair because I live in a region of Scotland - I am, as I think you know, English by birth. So's Paul.

Opening night was a laugh and well attended. Sal and I had a fine time (although she was driving - erm). More later as the show progresses.

Where of course the real flag of Orkney is above my avatar.

Only its not because the OIC changed the flag and bf wont update its flag list.

Looking forwards to the show tho....hope you get the sales you so rightly deserve Tim!
