I'll change 2 to Northern Wheatear.

1 Greater Sand Plover
2 Northern Wheatear
3 Black-throated Thrush
4 Bluethroat
5 Great Bustard

hey! sean cracks the 5 point extra-bonus with 3 correct species. i know it's easier after others have tried but that "great bastard" (dimi) was actually a gift and he got 2 other sp. right which others didn't, at least not both together.

Seeing the full pictures I realise how blazingly obvious the goldfinch should have been...
I'd not realised that pine buntings could have such dark heads, but then I've only seen one.

the frustrating thing is that as soon as I saw the quiz I thought snow bunting, but then none of them seemed quite right

no need for frustration, ken - see that both jurij and xenospiza thought there's a snow bunt and chose no.2 which was the goldfinch.. plus YOU got the other bunting right which i felt was the hardest.

peter, i also worried about the blackness of that male pine bunt head but it obviously is one.

oh, after 13 rounds i was thinking of some nice official words etc to bring it at an end though i had quite a lot of fun with this quiz. maybe 2 more rounds, dan and jurij got to do their homeworks, i have to lern my texts.. and. - give me some time, probably i'll be here tonight with some nice five crops (still have material but i'd like it with a nice concept like for the last 5). :)))
