Probably not enough detail in the shots? but certainly the biggest lizard that I’ve ever seen on the island…if anyone can hazard a guess as to the ID…the Cattle Egret c50 cm long?

Cheers

Excluding skinks, which this clearly isn't, there's one widespread native species: the Atlantic (Haria) Lizard, Gallotia atlantica. There also appear to be a couple of species introduced from other islands in the Canaries complex (using Wildlife of Madeira & Canary Islands by John Bowler 2018) in Western Canaries Lizard, G. galloti around Pajara & also Gran Canary Giant Lizard, G. stehlini at 2 sites in Tuineje. Was this location at either of the named introduction sites? Otherwise likely to be the one native one unless the status of the others has changed.

It was taken at Costa Calma.

Cheers

I've only been to the island once so not over familiar with the geography so no idea if the site you mention is close to the introduction sites of the 2 non-native species I mentioned. If well away from them I suspect it's likely to be the species native to the island.

Costa Calma is c32km from Tuineje, presume a native species then A.👍
