Hello, just back from fantastic trip in Gambia & Senegal with the guides Fatou Senghore and Foday Bojang. Some details :
- date 07/10 to 22/10
- Jeep 4 x 4 for 4 persons + guide + driver
- air : TUI, from Amsterdam
- lodging : campements & lodges, all reservations by Fatou Senghore
- itinerary :
day 1 : arrival, visit Bikilo Monkey Park, visit coast
day 2 : birdwatching Kotu & Brufut Woods and lots of stops during drive, sleep in Bintang Bolong Camp, fantastic lodges at the river !
day 3 : to Tendaba Camp, birdspotting also in Pirang Bonto Forest
day 4 : before noon boat trip Tendaba Camp, drive to Janjanbureh Camp.
day 5 : birdwatching before noon, afternoon boat trip to Baboon Island
day 6 : boat trip Janjabureh, driving to Bansang Bintou's Lodge
day 7 : drive to Senegal, campement de Wassadou for 4 nights
day 8 : visit Niokolo park
day 9 : boat trip Wassadou, birdwatching surroundings
day 10 : birdwatching surroundings, boat trip late afternoon
day 11 : back to Gambia, Banaan Bintou's Lodge
day 12 : drive to Kauur, fantastic lodge on top of a hill, Wonderfull,
day 13 : drive to Senegal Toubacouta ( visit friend), birdwatching saloum delta
day 14 : boat trip mangroves, afternoon visit friend and sunset boat trip to ,,sleeping" island from birds
day 15:drive to Gambia, ferry at Barra, visit Kotu Bridge, lodge Mandinari River Lodge ( absolutely perfect !)
day 16 : before noon birdspotting, noon drive to airport.
We saw 223 different kind of birds, some special ones :
White headed Vulture
Blue flycatcher
Black flycatcher
Grey headed bush shrike
Black crowned Tchagra
White crested Helmet Shrike
Violet backed Starling
Chestnut Crowned sparrow weaver
Orange checked wax bill
African Silver bill
Exclamatory paradise whydah
White fronted black chat
Yellow throated leaf love
African pied wagtail
African Gloden Orioles
Red shouldered Cuckoo shriek
Abyssinian Ground Honbill
Carmine bee eater
Little Green bee-eater
Violet Toracoo
Shining Blue Kingfisher

Because end of rain saison everything still ,,green", but Fatou & Foday did do wonderfull job by finding the birds.
Conclusion : it was a great trip, perfectly organized by Fatou Senghore, with fantastic lodges, great foot, constantly bird spotting. Although end of rain saison we did not have rain during the day, but humidity was high.
