A new month & much movement despite the grey skies. This included

43 : Mallard (started their aerial courtship)
44 : Golden plover - a flock of 40 swirling around!

EDIT : And, before I left this morning a flock of c45

45 : WAXWINGS! were in the trees at the back, which stayed around long enough for JB to see!

Three in one day!

I got a couple of brief glimpses of this next species in December 2012 in our yard, but today I was able to watch an adult male COMMON REDPOLL for several minutes. It was picking away at our nyjer feeder and keeping the Pine Siskins away from bothering him.

31. Common Redpoll

On a slight roll at the moment!....Kestrel soaring with Sprawk...No.49

Now on a bigger roll...out of a wall to wall blue sky...No.50..Common Buzzard (after the Kestrel and Sprawk soaring in unison at 11.30am, I thought wait a bit longer for the air temp. To rise a touch, and it might encourage one of the bigger "sail-ers" to show).

The COMMON REDPOLL was back in our yard this morning. It is pretty much a "mega" for us here in Missouri, especially if found in one's yard!
