Missed one extra species with two overhead waders, picked them up far too late and they shall forever remain question marks, but whatever they were, they were probably new species for the land!

Are you absolutely sure they weren't Semi-colon Sandpipers? Or perhaps Dot terel?

Boo hoo ...as they move through the UK, so the lands up here empty. Had flocks of Whinchats roving across my meadows in the last days, soon will be gone.

That's an amazing record... Goosander would be much more expected if still special!

Actually flew over, heading NE. Going to lake Superior, or a litle bit confused? I'd expect them to be heading south, to the ocean. There are some inland lakes nearby......?

I know! Goosander once or twice from my old house was good but this was out of the blue.
They do have a rather faster wingbeat I noticed.
Are inland records rare, Jane?

Very rare I think - but I live on the coast so its a perception

Presumably local breeding family dispersing for wintering grounds.
A great garden bird though!

Having been away for a month, at a critical time in the garden year listing race, It was nice to wake up and find a Willow Warbler amongst the Tit flock......69.....and a damn good record H!....RBM Wow!
