Garden / Yard List 2025 (5 Viewers)

Just 10 so far in 20 mins, but a brought in by the wind Red Kite over the roof (escorted by the paras), was a week earlier than last year!……Just to add no.15! (Song Thrush) in 2 hours squinting during atrocious conditions….gloom, windmill trees and rain….time for tea!…HNY to all.

The gloom and rain/sleet/snow of a Scottish winter don't make for a fast start (though it means I'm at home rather than birding elsewhere). 14 so far - nothing unexpected with bullfinch, long-tailed tit and jay the highlights.

Rob

For the first time in fifty years or more I have not gone out for New Year's morning, so garden it is. Wet and windy, but easing off now, and just four species so far, all from inside
January 1st
1. Dunnock
2. Woodpigeon
3. Feral Pigeon
4. Collared Dove

Time for a coffee I think, and then a venture outside.
Happy New Year everyone.

Beautiful weather, clear blue sky. Started of this morning with -4 degrees, now up to 9 :D

Small downer, the Tawny Owl didn’t show up this morning, however, got well compensated. Firstly, a single Crane flew over this morning, and then there was a Black Woodpecker. Neither seen before this winter! Total is now up to 26, will post a complete overview in one or two days.

It's getting dark here, time to close the curtains and look what I got for a first day:

#1. Magpie
#2. Great Tit
#3. Blue Tit
#4. Jackdaw
#5. Hooded Crow
#6. Feral Pigeon
#7. Common Starling
- last seen August 2024
#8. House Sparrow
#9. Great Spotted Woodpecker
