I purchased a Gitzo GT3541-LS tripod at considerable expense in October this year from Bob Rigby in the UK. I had been using Manfrotto for many years but decided to make the change due to the high reviews. I have been delighted with the sturdiness of the tripod, but after the second outing was stunned to see one of the feet missing. Disappointed, I tightened the remaining feet and continued working away. By the end of trip five all the feet were missing despite the fact that I had tightened them. I contacted Gitzo on Tuesday and here is there response; Many thanks for making contact regarding your GT3541LS tripod, and I’m sorry to hear you’ve had trouble with the feet disappearing. With the event of Anti Leg Rotation being introduced on all the tripods, enabling you to grip all the leg locks at the same time for fast set up, it is sometimes possible to grip the feet too which leads to them becoming unscrewed. For the 2008 models, we have tried to make the feet harder to unscrew using a small rubber gasket built into the mould. It’s necessary to have the feet as a removable item in order for photographers to upgrade to snow shoes or spiked feet, but this does mean that it is important to check that the feet are secure from time to time. As a goodwill gesture, I have ordered a set of replacement feet to be sent to you free of charge which I hope will get you back on the road again. So whilst they very diplomatically tell me it is my fault they have generously agreed to a set a replacement feet. Could not ask for more! Well done Gitzo :t:
