Unlike trying to get Norton/McAffee to live with AVG or pretty much any other AV product.I also use Spybot S&D for malware, all in all these free programs are pretty damned good.You can easily set AVG to schedule a scan when you're not at your PC - mine run at 03:00 in the morning.Open up the AVG interface.Left click the "Computer Scanner" (second item down on the left shand side menu)Left click "Manage Scheduled Scan" under  "Schedule Scans" (down near the bottom, centre)Then you can either add a new schedule or edit an existing one.To help speed scans up you can tell AVG to use more system resources, but only do this if you aren't going to be using the PC or have a "ninja" PC that can handle it.To do this navigate to your scheduled scan as above, then select the "Edit scan schedule" button.You will now be into the "Settings for scheduled scan" page and be on the left hand tab of three. Select the middle tab of the three "How to scan".Near the bottom of this page there is a slider (Adjust how quickly the scan completes), move it all the way over to the right.Hit the "Save" button and exit out.Your scheduled scan should now run quicker.You can do the same speed adjustment for manual scans also.Hope this helps....-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Darn it! I forgot to say for all you people who don't want to leave your PC on over night, there is an option to get AVG to shut the PC down after it has finished the scheduled scan.Navigate as above to the "How to scan" tab on the "Settings for scheduled scan" page.Under all the tick boxes there should be a blue underlined "Additional scan settings"Left click that...A new dialogue window will open called "Additional Scan Settings"At the top there are the "Computer Shutdown Options"Tick the "Computer shutdown on scan completion" box and then hit "OK"Also tick "Force shutdown if computer is locked" if your PC locks itself.Done, all you have to do is remember not to turn it off before you go to bed now ;-)</blockquote>
