The blog article where Dr. Darko Butina espouses his views is based solely on the analysis of temperature records from a single site, namely the Armagh Observatory in Ulster. If I was to study the long term temperature / rainfall records from southern California and the Sahel ( let's make it multiple variables in the analysis so as to pretend it's a "wide ranging" study ;) ) then - rising temperatures - 'drastically' reduced rainfall - increased desertification. What differences would we find between the present and the past. Soaring population numbers and increased use of fossil fuels in California, population rises in the Sahel accompanied by an increase in grazing animals ( with an increase in greenhouse gasses ). In one fell swoop, using the methodologies of many, many deniers, with none of the "unnecessary" peer reviewed cr*p, I have "proven" AGW is a fact ( or should that be "factoid? ). "Ahh" I hear you say " but you're not a scientist". I've a MSc in Ecology, a PhD in Malacology, I research abyssal cephalopods, what more do you want? A grounding in climatology isn't necessary for those that deny AGW so I'm perfectly qualified. :t: Here's one of the many rebuttals of Dr. Butina's 'work', http://blog.hotwhopper.com/2013/04/denier-weirdness-galore-from-wuwt.html?m=1
