Golden Eagle in London (1 Viewer)

Not quite sure why BBC news has produced this now, but an interesting snippet from the past ...

Once upon a time I worked in a concrete canyon in London and heard every corvid and gull in the area go mental. Looking out of the window I saw an immature Steppe Eagle thundering along the street at eye level (4th floor).

I rang London Zoo and asked if they'd lost anything: they said "No, but we know a man that has!"

The eagle had been provided for an advertisement photo-shoot and gone AWOL. It was recaptured a few days later.

Typical London life!

John
