Well, Chris, Twite and any other 'cynics': you see I was brought up in a family of negative thinkers and our kids too now include a convinced cynic, so I have had to try to hold my head up all my life and look for the good in it. And despite EVERYTHING that may argue to the contrary (and I know how much that is!), I believe in the power of good. I believe that Man (as a generalism) is inherently good. So I have to appeal to Man's better nature. I believe that Man CAN listen. It's stirring people out of the mesmerism, whether wrong-headed attitudes, apathy or (dare I say it??) negativity that is difficult. If I can't wake friends and family up, or convince people like you here to DO something that might, just might, help these magnificent birds, then what hope do I indeed have of stopping evil people from doing evil things? None? 'Abandon hope all ye that enter here,' to quote Dante's Inferno?? Well, I would say along with Alexander Pope, 'Hope springs eternal...' And no, I am not a born optimist. I have spent my life fighting against what might be termed the downward-pulling influence. I can't give up now. And I can't just say 'Beautiful birds. Evil people. And let them both go hang.' For most of my life, I thought that one little person and one little voice meant nothing. And then I heard about the eagle poisonings. I felt perhaps even one little person might be and should be heard, not just bemoaning the tragedy, but trying to say and do something constructive. It's far from being an ego-trip, believe me. Do you all think that the world will be a better place if even this one little person hides my head as I always have and say and do nothing?? Thanks for reading this, anyway. I appreciate your time and thought. Sincerely.
