GPO Passion ED 8 x 32 Review (1 Viewer)

After my last post I decided to contact the GPO and they responded quickly. Some, like Kowa, never responded to me. Anyway, here's the answer:
Hello,

“Blackouts” as referenced is a very subjective term that occurs with unique individuals, which although it can occur, is very depended on the dynamics of the individuals facial structure. Blackouts can occur with any product that the users eyes get too close to the ocular lens. So if your facial structures brow is extended or restricted, or your eye socket are larger or smaller, or if your eyes are set further forward or restricted, all can affect the image creating “blackout” spots with the eyecups extended or turned down.

GPO 8x32’s products eye relief is 16mm, which should be more than enough to minimize this issue. The eyecups rotate for easy up and down. We unfortunately do not offer different eyecup lengths.

Depending where you buy them, most retailers return policy of new product is quite generous, so this should allow you to test them and return them if these items don’t work for your needs.

If you purchase the products on line at GPO-USA.com, we offer a no questions asked 100% money back satisfaction guarantee.

We hope this helps with your decision and thank you for considering GPO.

The GPO Team.

I would still look at the Verano....I don't have issues with the diopter. If you want a diopter issue, purchase the overpriced Swaro CL series......gees....

The GPO now seems to have two has two issues....one you mention with the blackouts and one I have seen mentioned, and have experienced with the lose/too much play in the focus wheel. But you know what really gets me about the GPO series? It is what you stated in that " and It seems GPO doesn't care much."

That same attitude by GPO was the same one I ran up against when I even chatted with the CEO and talked about the problem of lose/too much play in focus wheel. He blatantly just didn't care. That, and now what you stated.....gives me a strong impression the GPO knows the faults and is just willing to turn their heads to them, as opposed to fixing the issue. So, what else are they turning their heads to?

To counter that.....on this forum email, I wrote Pete Gamby at Opticron concerning the glare In the Traveler series and he wrote back saying that that is an issue they need to update on the Traveler. In my mind, they did....with the Verano.

So....customer service with positive contact with company execs, and .....actually wanting and doing something about an issue. That sets Opticron apart from others.
To counter, GPO has spent countless time, effort and investment to improve the focus wheels and free play on the PASSION ED series. I am not sure which "CEO" you spoke with from GPO, but our headquarters are based in Germany and there we do our best to ensure that our products offer the best possible value for the money. Is every single binocular 100% perfect? NO, but we make 100% quality control of each focus wheel, hinge and optical quality to ensure that as many as possible are as close to perfect as can be. If you did have a conversation with someone from GPO and came away dissatisfied, we apologize, but that is not indicative of the attitude of our entire organization.

It is good to hear ...glad they have improved upon those areas. I do have my Verano's and will keep them but always nice to hear the GPO's are an option.... jim
