Grackle feeding adolescent on ground (1 Viewer)

Hello! I have a grackle who feeds 1 of her 3 babies on the ground below the bird feeder. She had babies about 3 weeks ago. They're all out of the nest now and flying around (somewhat badly lol), and 2 of the 3 are eating from the feeder with Mom. It's just this one who cries until she feeds it. They've been doing this going on 2 weeks. Can anyone explain this strange behavior?

It seems to be taking its time growing up ;) I assume eventually, mom will get tough and stop feeding it to force it to learn how to secure a bite to eat on its own ;)

Grackles also like peanuts in the shell and several other offerings, so assuming you know the other popular seeds. That's the answer...and although not all but I've had them on the Grey Striped Sunflower.

Thanks! I have an update...mom is STILL feeding that baby (adolescent?)!! She doesn't even do anything but pick up the seed and drop it in, do I don't see the point. The siblings have all been eating on their own for well over a month now!
