I’m stumped trying to identify a ‘grackle’ in Manzanillo with a stubby parrot like beak. Is this a variation or a different species?

HI, and first welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. Is there any way you can get a photo of the bird? It would help us to possibly ID it.

Check pictures of the Ani species (smooth-billed or grove-billed) which could be what you saw.

Thanks everyone. It took me a while to get this image, but I think the Groove Billed Ani is the winner. The beak is lacking a pronounced hump as pictured in my bird book, but some online images suggest this is the one.
