Hi,
I have a question about Great Blue Heron variations.

1 Great Blue Heron Ardea herodias
2 Great White or White Morph Great Blue Ardea herodias Occidentalis
3 Würdemann's Heron ?

If GBH is Ardea herodias, and the white morph is Ardea herodias Occidentalis, what is the intermediate Würdemann's then, a different subspecies or does just get classed with either of the first two?
Is the Bird in 3 a Würdemann's? It was seen from the Card Sound Road , the 905 just after it turnd wesr at the ponds to the north of the road on Key Largo, Fl

Thanks for your help

Andy

Thanks Lou,
2 was ided as a Ardea herodias Occidentalis yesterday, and is 3 then almost in its adult plumage? ie still juvenile, it has yellow bill not blue with black tip, and yellow legs.

Thanks

Agree with Fugl and Steve that 2 is Great White Heron not GWE. Note that GWE has black legs which bird 2 clearly doesn't have.

#2...GWH. Great White Egret will often show plumes extending beyond tail,if blackish legs coundnt be seen.

juv GBH has full black head cap, central white crown stripe dividing black halves in adulthood.
