Louth. The caller was an Englishman living in Ireland, so maybe he knows more about woodpeckers than us natives. But I understood (perhaps in my ignorance) that LSW don´t take peanuts from feeders. He did say the bird had white horizontal barring on the back, had a red cap, and was about the size of a sparrow. What do you reckon? Probably GSW? (I don´t think there are any previous records for LSW in Ireland).</blockquote>
