Greeting from a Thai birder (1 Viewer)

Hello everybody.

This may sound strange. A self introduction manydays after a post of trip report. Some one who has read my Mu Ko Surin trip report might wonder who this person was. I did not intend to make myself mysterious or sound mentally disorder. (Of course I am not. Just joking.) Actually, when I applied for the forum membership, I told myself; "Maybe next time I will introduce myself". And I just forgot about it.

I am a Thai male, 42 years old, living and working in Samutprakarn, on the outskirts of Bangkok. I started birdwatching as my hobby in 1997, the year of Tom-Yum-Koong economic crisis. Until now I have traveled to many national parks and wildlife reservations in Thailand and have seen quite a number of Thai bird species. I use Boonsong Lekagul and Philip D. Round ‘s “A Guide to the Birds of Thailand”, and Craig Robson’s “A Field Guide to the Birds of South-East Asia” for my reference guide books. I have two spotting scopes; a Kowa Prominar TSN663 ED and a Leica APO Televid 77, and two digital cameras; a Coolpix 885 and a Coolpix 995, which I use for digiscoping.

I hope this help you know me better. Best wishes to all of you.

Sumate Bhlapibul

P.S. How can I add another "l" to my family name in the registration?

Welcome to Bird Forum, great to have a new member from the tropics. I own Craig Robson's book (but have never been to Thailand - except Bangkok Airport!) and you have some fantastic birds there!

best wishes from the edge of the Arctic

Edward

Welcome Sumate,

And thank you for such a great introduction and also your first report.

I look forward to hearing more about birding in Thailand, and to learning from you.

My family name should read "Bhlapibul". It might have been because of the limited spaces so it did not accept the last alphabet, or simply my own mistyping. Thanks anyway.
Sumate

Many apologies for welcoming you to the forum earlier. I have been away. I hope you enjoy this website and engage fully in all aspects of it to your and our pleasures.

(Sorry if this is a standardised welcome, there will be a few folk to welcome so I am using the same message but the sincerity is genuine.)
