Does anyone have any opinions or info on dog walkers using causeways at camp lane and disturbing the Lapwings ?

Not really a problem if they keep to the paths (they ignore the signs requesting dogs be kept on leads). The causeways replicate the original footpaths before gravel extraction took place so can't see them being diverted. Many of the resident and breeding birds have become remarkably confiding given the level of disturbance.

Grimley's second Temminck’s Stint of the spring has been found at Wagon Wheel Lane Pits this afternoon before being relocated at Camp Lane Pits where it is viewable from the causeway at the north end mid-afternoon.

One drake Garganey remained at Camp Lane Pits this morning.

4 drake Mandarin on Wagon Wheel Lane Pits early morning suggests the number of nesting pairs in the area is still increasing. Also 3 Common Gulls (adult & 2 first-summers) there yesterday evening.

The drake Garganey was still at Camp Lane Pits when I left at 8.45pm this evening.

The drake Garganey still present at Camp Lane Pits today along with the first returning pair of Teal and the pair of Shoveler remain. A Little Egret made a brief visit and a female Wheatear remains in the Church Farm meadows.

3 Broad-bodied Chasers were at the old workings late morning (pic below).

The moulting drake Garganey remains at Camp Lane Pits favouring the north end along the east shore early morning. This bird arrived last Tuesday and is the 4th drake we've had since the end of May. Picture below.

Also a Yellow Wagtail flew over and 5 moulting drake Mandarin were at Wagon Wheel Lane Pits.

A Wood Sandpiper at Camp Lane Pits was a pleasant surprise this morning. First picked up on call it was feeding along the west shore of the middle section before spending the rest of the morning and early afternoon on the east shore. Also a Green Sandpiper and Yellow Wagtail over.

Gadwall appear to have had a reasonable year with at least 7 broods noted comprising 8 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 4 + 2 + 2. One of the broods of 8 are now at least 5 weeks old and the female has done well to keep her brood intact given the number of corvids and gulls present. Clearly some of the others have not been so lucky as both the broods of 2 are fairly well grown suggesting many of their siblings have been taken.

Also 4 Pochard, single Teal and 75+ Mute Swans were amongst the commoner wildfowl at Camp Lane Pits.
