Great stuff Jim and nice to catch up yesterday. I can't picture where you mean for the little owl though?

Walk down the road to the junction in the village take the right fork towards Camp Inn. Turn left down the footpath 40 m, past the Dutch barn and through the gate . Follow the hedge line and through another footpath / field gate , immediately on your left another footpath gate . Looking toward the river over the gate ——— an oak and to the left and right oak and ash. The owl in all three trees.

Recap from Sunday, grotty weather Sling /Holt tawny owl calling from the west and again from behind the castle. flock of 40 siskin/ goldfinch Grebe pool. Half a dozen probably more snipe with the usual ducks on sling.
Camp lane pits, 25+ pochard ,20+ wigeon , [ another 40+wigeon on church farm North pit which also held the american female]. Down at the south end of camp lane I set up my stool by the footpath and watched the bulrushes and wqs quickly rewarded by the cetti's warbler which has been there since before christmas although unseen or unheard of by me . So a new bird for Grimley, and the year list.
Male and female goldeneye remain and 2 oystercatchers. 4 sand martin seen and also a few clouds of flying insects.

Thursday evening , calm for a change , although little change on the pits . Sling pool has had a lot of mechanical disturbance raising the surrounding ground level .
Camp lane a pair of goldeneye still and the American female was with 11 Eurasian wigeon . Good number of mute swans with 37 counted and more arriving from the south as I left. The 2 oystercatcher remain and lapwing down to c15. A water rail called from the east shore.

Tuesday evening Camp lane pits 4 redshank and the long staying pair of goldeneye. A curlew flew over calling and headed east towards the flooded river and although I checked as much as possible did not see it again .
The river is just over the banks making viewing from Wagon wheel lane difficult with 2 feet + of running water , however a female mandarin was in this area.

That’s a great sighting Patch I’ve only ever had corn buntings at Shenstone and not recently.
Thursday evening Camp Lane pits 2 little-ringed plover hippo pool ,although the hippo is now wallowing over by the reeds. Also 3 redshank west shore and the pair of goldeneye remain. Wagon wheel flash held 2 coot and a pair of mallard , disappointing to say the least.
On arriving at sling pool I could hear a curlew which was first on the main pool then relocated to the flash in with the sheep.

Thursday evening and gloriously tranquil , Camp lane up to 5 redshank , LR plover ,2 oystercatcher , what appeared to be a sitting lapwing and still good numbers of wigeon . Good numbers of St. Marks fly everywhere but no sand martins . 1 female pochard towards the south end.
Sling pool 2 shelduck new for the year , we’re an unexpected surprise as were 4 snipe which compared to last year have not been easy to find. 2 LR Plovers and 2 redshank also.
