Early morning is by far the best time for birding, I never regret visiting local patches really early. There's always something different going on and the birds are far more active.At this time of year I sometimes stay up all night, go out at bout 4am and get back at about 11am for a few hours sleep. Lucozade is the key. It's not a good plan if you've got any work to do the next day tho!Point is I've been getting very few groppers even pre-dawn. Maybe they are still about and just quiet.
