Photo 1 - I believe this is an Eurasian Teal. However, it has a bluish/purplish speculum instead of the usual green. Is this due to age?

Photos 2 to 4 - Are these Slaty-backed Gulls? Or could they be Vega Gulls? Photos 3 & 4 show the same individual.

Help much appreciated!

Agree with Eurasian Teal.

2 looks big and bulky, good for slaty, 3 4 may be Vega, but Japanese gulls are often hard to id, i find.
You do use a site like this i hope?

I do use that website on gulls but often I find my photos are slightly different to theirs so there are always doubts in my mind. Let's see if someone else more familiar with gulls in Japan can provide their input.
