adult male pale eyed cach with short wings, lviv area, 7.6.2014, kolya
hi kolya - see the outlined feature which made me definitely say "caspian" (which you never know in your area...) maybe some argentatus genes have intruded the whole lot of caspian population down to black sea. but evidence for such has yet to be given. many (about 5% of danube delta population) have a reduced p5 mark, lacking in the extreme case.
a herring gull, esp. eastern ones could look identic to your bird, including the long tongue. but bill shape is very typical for a strong male cachi, imo.
i guess you know my website about michs and cachs (don't work on it since some time :eat: http://www.lou.bertalan.de/gulls/m_newest.php
ok, thanks!:t:
Unfortunately, I don't know colour of feet, but in my opinion seems to be pinkish...
I will look for more photos, may be I have more photos of this Gull and I publish them here...
first of all i had another look on that gull in your post 3031 - which now seems an obvious 2cy caspian.
the juvenile from today got to be a LBBG, see the slightly desaturated pic in which colours look better - still a bit pale for LBBG but ok. primaries are long and black
