Gull id help

Hi
I hope it is OK to request help with very basic gull knowledge. This tall aggressive bird was at Blyth Estuary one week ago. No response on bird Id forum so far. Is it too easy or not possible due poor photos?

Any thoughts would help to improve my gull knowledge.

Another gull that I have differing replies to

The tall odd head shaped immature , centre of shot, pale head facing left.
People have kind enough to come with LBBG and 3cy herring gull with some Caspian features. Please confirm if possible. This was taken one week ago at Tinkers Marsh, Suffolk.

I don't see any reason to rule out a pure Herring Gull, but unfortunately there are few details in your images. Probably Lou will not be able to reply soon, because during the next few days he will be somewhere on the Black Sea coast...

I should explain my gull knowledge is basic which I am trying to improve by taking photos. Clearly the answer will mostly be LBBG or Herring Gull in Suffolk. It therefore is very useful to be given the identity of a gull and I can work back to understanding the reasoning.

Yes the photos are not great but these gulls are easily spocked. I will review the vast history of this subforum when time for easier examples.

looks like an 'ordinary' 2nd cycle (2cy) herring gull to me but better pics are always advised when it comes to large gull ID

this is a caspian gull (male type). did it really have pale irides?

Hi all for a long time later. I have to far away from gulls because of i started to stay in the middle of turkey. I want to ask this gull. This photo taken on Trabzon / Turkey on 14.02.2014 by Hakan Kahraman. it looks Larus fuscus heuglini. What are you thinking about?

I would agree with Heuglin's Gull for this bird. By the way, great pictures.

indeed. you can call this bird heuglini with a good amount of certainty! much black in wingtip (reaching well down to p4), striation concentrated in nape/hindneck, longish bill.
