pity you couldn't take an open wing shot (to elimnate a potential thayeri ;)). otherwise it will go under the category "probable northern argentatus".

hi tsingy,

1st is from fuscus group as you say but i doubt that it's a western graellsii. powerful appearance, pale flesh-coloured legs and likeliness on location would rather suggest heuglini for this bird, a 3rd winter indeed.

2nd is a 1st summer (2nd calendar year!) michahellis.

Thanks Lou. The bill and leg not long for my expectation, and mantle color seems one level more dark, so I think, might be. Now i am a little far away coastline of Blacksea. Also a far away to gulls. But sometimes i can wisit my old location. Now i created a blog. İf you want to see look here.

What age is this (presumed) Yellow-legged Gull? The flight feathers look adult to me but the large black band around the bill doesn't. Picture taken 31/12/2014 in Hampshire, UK.

Is this the 'rare and elusive' GBBG with yellow legs? January 2nd, W coast of Latvia.
Or what would GBBGxLBBG hybrid look like? Other than the color of legs rest of the bird (wingtip, bill) seems ok for GBBG though. It was a bit larger than Herring Gull but not by much (on the smaller end of GBBG).

Cheers!

Hi everyone, I want to geth your opinion about this gull. This photo taken by Kemal Kahraman, on 1.1.2015, in Trabzon-Turkey. It seems to be Herring gull Larus a. argentatus, with pale yellow legged. What are you thinking about ?
