Went to Tongham GP and saw many many BH gulls - possibly 1000 swarming about over the pit, and beyond over the other side of the Blackwater Valley. Several coot, widgeon, a couple of gadwall, tufted duck and about 25 mute swans.

Then went south into the gravel pit area (Tices Meadow I guess), and very little around. But returning to the GP, saw a female kestrel hovering.

Crossing over the valley route found around 60 fieldfare and a couple of golden plover in a grassy field.

A very pleasant afternoon out, if rather muddy.

Big Thrush flock in farmland around Tongham this morning c100 Redwings & 50 Fieldfares, pretty quiet at Tices, (bloody windy too!), c60 Lapwing, 200 Lesser Blacks, 150 Black Headed, & 20 Common Gulls, 4 Siskins amoungst the Goldfinches were a nice find though.

John.

P.S - Mark, Don't jump the fence mate that would take you down to the chavs level, us birders should set an example!

Yes, It's a useful site and I have submitted a sighting or two there in the past. Generally, though I use BirdTrack to manage my lists - and the data can be accessed and used by BTO. Anything scarce or rare would additionally warrant a mention on Surrey Birders as you suggest, or BirdGuides - for the use by other birders.
