Right way up again
There's a slim chance I might get to do a bit of local birding on one of my all-too-rare trips home next month. It'll be nice to stomp the old patch again. It'll be even nicer to se some of the birds I've barely seen since I left as well. I've only seen one Dunnock the whole time I've been here...

2 migrant Ringed Plovers on the meadow. Disappointed no other migrants were seen but with this rain the water levels are back to winter level so the meadow should contain water well into June and will surely attract more migrants. The habitat looks so good I wish I still lived down the road and could visit daily. All other years at this time the meadow is 'bone dry' with the weeds growing quickly!
On the workings 10 Tufted Duck, male Shelduck and a surprise pair of Pochard.

Body in the UK, heart in South Africa
About 5 years ago we had a Ring necked Parakeet in our garden for a few hours. The following day we had a budgerigar. Two days after that a dead budgie - a different one as it was a different colour.
Quite surreal

Green Sandpiper on the meadow at Tices this afternoon in addition to the regulars.

John.

John,

Good to see the start of the return passage.

What is the water level like in the meadow?

Usually rains sometime in the next two weeks during Wimbledon so a top-up will be useful!
Hope to be at Tice's Meadow on Sunday. Before and after my Bird Atlas survey of the Tongham Tetrad.

Hi Kevin,

The water level is still looking good so hopefully we'll get a few more goodies on return. The Green Sand was seen again today by Richard, good luck for your visit, let us know if you find anything good.

Cheers,

John.

P.S - congrats on the Little Gull find at Dorney!
